Alhamdulillah we are a married couple and are expecting a baby soon. We have selected the names Amin and Ayman for our baby. We found the meaning of Amn to be honest and trustworthy. Can you confirm this and indicate if the correct spelling is Amin or Ameen? Can you give the meaning of Ayman?

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Ameen and Ayman are good names to keep.

Ameen means trustworthy, honest and faithful. It is also one of the titles of our beloved Muhammad Salallahu Alaihi wa Sallam. (Names for Muslim Children; Pg.26; Darul-Ishaat – 1991). Ameen is a more appropriate spelling.

Ayman is from the root word Yumnun [1] which means one who is blessed.[2]&[3] (Lisanul Arab; Pg. 464; Darul Hadith, Ed 2003)
