Does Qurbani have to be done by every mature person of the family and cannot be done by one person on behalf of the entire family?

Question:

Can you give me proof that Qurbani is to be done by every mature person of the family and cannot be done by one person for the whole family?

The opposite proof are narrated by Muslim, Ibn Majah and Tirmidhi.

Can I get a reference from the Sunnah that is basis of your interpretation of the above hadiths for a specific duration of time and is the reason why we consider it to be done by every mature person?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Qurbani is Wajib upon every Muslims (male or female) who are sane, mature, not a traveler and who possesses the nisab of zakat on the 10^th or 11^th or 12^th of Zul-Hijjah. (Ta’leemul Haq; Pg. 221. 12^th Edition.)

One Qurbani will not suffice for the entire family. Qurbani is Wajib upon each individual separately.[i]

Qurbani is not Wajib upon a minor.
