Shortened Question: Can Ibecome a nail technician for Muslim as well as
non-Muslim women?
Question: As Salaamu Alaikum,
For about 2 years i’ve wanted to open a nail salon for muslim and non-muslim women. My dad told me if i can find a proof to do this in accordance with islam he will allow it. I’ve done research on the permissibility of wearing them (to be wore during menstruation, or removed before making wudhu and/or ghusl) I have come up with a way for muslim women to remove and reapply false nails when desired on and off the cycle. But could i be able to become a nail technician for non-muslim women as well? Or would it have to be strictly for muslim women?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
We apologise for the delay in responding to your query.
Islam teaches us that a woman who wishes to adorn herself may do so, but her adornment must remain within the guidelines of Shari’ah.
It is permissible for you to become a “Nail Technician” for both Muslims non – Muslims. Nonetheless, caution should be observed that no Haram components should be found in the materials used.
Please note, also, that it is disliked to cut nails during periods of impurity[i].
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best,
Mufti Saeed Ahmed Golaub.
