Sequence of Qadah of Asr

Shortened Question:

If one misses Asr, but performs Isha and Taraweh with Jamat, should he also perform Witr with Jamat?

Question:

If one misses Asr, but performs Isha and Taraweh with Jamat, should he also perform Witr with Jamat as well?

What is the Sharih ruling if he is performing the Witr individually?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

One who missed a maximum of six or less than six Salat is termed as a sahib-ut-tartib.

It is necessary for a sahib-ut-tartib to perform the Salat in sequence.

If one misses the Asr Salat and subsequently performed the Isha and Taraweh Salat with Jamat.

He should delay the Witr Salat.

He should first perform the Asr Salat, then repeat the Maghrib Salat and the Esha Salat in that sequence.

Afterwards he should perform the Witr Salat. (Contemporary Fatawaa – Mufti Muhammad Taqi Usmani; pg. 73)

If one is not a sahib-ut-tartib, he may perform Witr Salat with Jamat and thereafter make qadah of the missed Fard Salat.

One should make sure that he performs all of his Salat in their correct times in the future. To delay any Salat out of its correct time unduly is a major sin.

And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
