Shortened Question:

Question:

السلام عليكم و رحمة الله وبركاته Mufti, my question is about what role a husband has to play in this scenario. A and B are women who are having a conversation and B’s husband starts shouting at A, knowing very well she makes pardah and hasn’t done any wrong. A’s husband hears about this what should he do.

Follow up Question:

B’s husband is not an Alim, A’s husband is an Alim. A and B are close relatives. A and B are having a chat, B asked A if A’s husband would mind doing something. A said yes he would mind as he was resting and that is when B’s husband started shouting and swearing A. (B’s husband has a temper but this conversation had nothing to do with him.)

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

In principle, A should not have entertained any direct discussion with B’s husband, when B herself was present. B’s husband should have communicated to A through his wife, B.

Just as B’s husband was wrong for his rude conduct, likewise A has erred in violating the laws of Hijab, by communicating with B directly.
