Interest from Hindu Banks etc.

Shortened Question:

Is it permissible to accrue interest from a Hindu Bank?

Question:

Assalamu alaikum,

I have heard in India that you can have interest from Hindu Banks. Is this allowed?

Can we have relationship with non-Muslim Bandi (women)?

Can we perform only two rakats of Sunnah before Dhur Namaaz?  Or does it have to be four?

Answer:

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

The giving and the receiving of interest from any source is Haram.

Allah Ta’ala says:

وَمَنْ عَادَ فَأُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ}

[البقرة: 275[

Translation:

Those who consume interest shall not stand up except like him whom the Shaytaan has driven mad by his touch. This is because they say, “Trade is just like interest!!!”

Allah has permitted trade and forbidden interest.

The one to whom the advice from his Lord had come and he refrained then for him is that which has passed and his affairs rest with Allah.

Those who return are indeed dwellers of the fire where they shall live forever.  (Surah Baqarah 2:275)

Besides Muslim women it is permissible for a man to marry Jewish or Christian women.[1]

However, before entering into a relationship with a Jewish or a Christian women one should first consider the effects of having a partner who is a non-Muslim. This non-Muslim woman will be the one entrusted with the upbringing of the children. The grandparents will also be non-Muslims. Think about the upbringing of the children in terms of Islamic etiquettes.  One who does not possess knowledge of Islam cannot build an Islamic home.

There are four Sunnah Muaqadah before Dhur Namaaz and two after the Namaaz.[2]&[3]
