Shortened Question:
Can a woman travel alone?
Question:
1) Can a woman travel alone?
2) What is the minimum distance of a journey?
3) A woman covers every part of her body except her hands? Is this permissible?
4) Can a woman travel alone in vehicles like rickshaw where a man is driving?
5) Will a person who saw the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) not enter Hell Fire? I know a woman who saw The Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) in her dream but continues to do little haram things.
6) “One who sees me in a dream, it is as if he has truly seen me, for Satan cannot impersonate me.” If somebody gets a feeling in a dream that the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam) is there, does it mean that he has been seen? What does mean by seeing in this hades?
Answer:
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
In principle a woman should remain in the confines of her home. If she has a valid reason in Shari’ah to travel for a distance of 48miles or less, she may leave her home while adhering to the laws of Shari’ah. However, if there is fear of fitnah in a woman travelling alone then she should be accompanied by a mahram (one with whom marriage is not permissible in Shariah).[1]&[2] .
The hands are not considered as part of the awrah (concealed part) of the woman, therefore it is permissible to expose the hand.[3]
It is not permissible for a woman to travel alone in a rickshaw if it is driven by a Ghair Mahram (one to whom Nikah is permissible according to Shariah.)
Hereunder is the hadith that you referred to:-
Translation:
Narrated Abu Huraira:
The Prophet said, “Name yourselves with my name (use my name) but do not name yourselves with my Kunya name (i.e. Abu-l Qasim). And whoever sees me in a dream then surely he has seen me for Satan cannot impersonate me. And whoever tells a lie against me (intentionally), then (surely) let him occupy his seat in Hell-fire.” (Sahih Bukari – Book of Knowledge; Hadith # 110.)[4]
If one sees Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam in his/her dream he/she will be sure that it is
Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam.
To see Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam in a dream is indeed praiseworthy, but it is not purposeful.
Seeing Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam in ones dream is no immunity from the fire of hell. A believer should continue striving and to stay away from haram. One should not use such dreams as a shield to do haram.
And Allah Ta’āla Knows Best
